PowerBox-Systems have been producing the DigiSwitch since 2004, and it still remains the smallest and lightest voltage regulator available commercially.

The DigiSwitch is an excellent choice for any application where there is no space for mechanical switches and heavy batteries. In conjunction with modern LiPo or LiFePo battery technology, the DigiSwitch represents an effective weight-saving measure, and also provides additional security with its integral voltage monitor and electronic switch, which is both totally reliable and vibration-resistant.

The on / off switching process is initiated by pressing the push-button twice. The micro-controller monitors the sequence, and turns the electronic switch on or off if the procedure is valid. This eliminates any danger of operating the switch accidentally, and produces a connection which is resistant to vibration.

The switch is a latching type, i.e. it stores the last switched state. This means that the system always remains switched on even if there is a brief interruption in the circuit at the battery end.

A further safety feature of the DigiSwitch is the integral voltage monitor: the tri-colour LED indicates the battery's state of charge in three stages. The voltage monitor can be set to suit all commonly used battery types: 2S LiPo, 2S LiFePo, 5S NiMH or 4S NiMH.

The DigiSwitch reduces the input voltage to 5.9V (optionally 5.3V), and therefore supplies the correct voltage for standard 6.0V servos.

Two different connector systems are available at the battery end: Uni or MPX types. The MPX version is supplied as standard with two receiver connecting leads.

The PowerBox BaseLog combines high performance capacity with excellent battery monitoring facilities, as it includes the option of sending battery-relevant data directly to the transmitter's screen.

Like all PowerBox battery backers, the PowerBox BaseLog features completely redundant construction. The regulators, the switches and even the micro-controllers which are responsible for the on / off switching process, are duplicated in a consistent manner.

The essential battery type information is entered using a menu system and the integral OLED screen, with the help of the SensorSwitch supplied in the set. The telemetry interface is simply connected to the receiver using a patch-lead; the TM1000 telemetry module is only required for Spektrum equipment. The receiver sends the data directly to the transmitter's screen. Alarms - such as battery failure - are also generated at the transmitter itself.

The high-resolution OLED screen displays the voltage and residual capacity of both batteries, as well as the output voltage actually present.

The BaseLog delivers a regulated output voltage of 5.9 V or 7.4 V, making it a great choice for standard 6.0 V servos as well as HV systems. In both cases the constant output voltage ensures consistent running and extended effective life for your servos.

Power is fed to the receivers via the two patch-leads supplied in the set. Optional patch-leads are also available to suit high-current inputs, which are now fitted to a number of receiver types.

DESCRIPTION

Here at PowerBox-Systems we have developed yet another High-End product designed to provide supreme functionality and security for the demanding pilot. The Champion SRS is the sister of the new Royal SRS, but without the integral iGyro.

Current requirements obliged us to adopt many new ideas during the development period: all 24 outputs have a ServoMatch function, the unit features a door-sequencer as standard, and not least the latest PowerBus technology, which is destined to introduce fundamental changes in the electronic layout of large-scale models as a whole.

In other respects we have retained proven concepts in further developed form. For example, the new Champion SRS is fully programmable using a menu system, controlled with the SensorSwitch and a blue backlit LCD screen.

As usual, all battery-specific and flight-relevant data can be displayed on-screen after each flight.

The door sequencer function features an integral set-up assistant which make it possible to complete the essential set-up procedure in very short order.

Over the last two years developments in serial receiver bus systems have brought them to the forefront of current technology, and the new Champion SRS features these inputs.

The Champion SRS features no fewer than four high-performance voltage regulators, allowing the use of both HV servos and conventional 6V types. With dual security in mind, each pair of regulators can be set to an output voltage of 5.9V or 7.4V.

The Servo-Match and Fail-Safe functions have also been expanded: the software now provides adjustment facilities for all 24 outputs individually, covering servo centre, travels, fail-safe and hold-mode. Servo reverse is available with a single button-press.

Six different radio control systems - Spektrum, Futaba, JR, Multiplex, Hott and Jeti - can be bound to the Royal SRS, most of them providing telemetry output of battery-, receiver- and GPS data.

The Champion SRS can be updated using the USB adapter, and is therefore equipped to cope with new systems in the pipeline, and possible future expansions.

PowerBox Cockpit SRS

DESCRIPTION

The PowerBox Cockpit SRS is identical in design and construction to the PowerBox Competition SRS, with the addition of one special feature: a freely programmable door sequencer for warbirds or jets.

SRS stands for Serial Receiver System: in contrast to conventional battery backer systems, servo information is transferred using a digital serial signal generated by the receiver. This reduces the number of connections required between the receiver and the PowerBox to a single cable. It is also a straightforward matter to connect a second receiver to the system, which then assumes complete control of the model without restriction if the first receiver should fail to pick up a signal. In the case of Spektrum and Jeti equipment additional receivers are not required; only the satellite receivers are connected to the Cockpit SRS.

The integral door sequencer is an in-house development by PowerBox-Systems, and opens up entirely new territory in terms of programming facilities. The operation of the wheel doors is freely programmable, i.e. it is not restricted to pre-set sequences. In spite of the innumerable possible options which the door sequencer offers, all the set-up work can be completed in just a few minutes thanks to the software-based set-up assistant, which has been an integral feature of the sequencer since 2012.

The Cockpit SRS can output up to twelve channels, regardless of the radio control system with which it is used. Four of them are equipped with a servo-match function.

The purpose of servo-matching is to adjust the centre point, end-points and direction of rotation very accurately for each servo. This means that multiple servos connected mechanically to a single control surface can be fine-tuned to operate exactly in parallel, preventing the servos working against each other. They are able to develop their full power, and consume less current. Servo-matching can also extend the effective life of your servos enormously.

However, servo-matching also allows functions to be linked, avoiding the need for two channels at the transmitter. As an example: the left and right landing flaps can be operated using just one transmitter channel, as the direction of rotation and the servo end-points are adjusted at the Cockpit SRS. This saves channels, and in many cases makes the transmitter programming procedure much easier.

The PowerBox Evolution is always the first choice when a small, robust battery backer system is required: the typical range of applications extends from warbirds to 3D aerobatic models and even to jets.

The unit is switched on using the SensorSwitch which is included in the set as standard; the procedure could hardly be simpler: pressing the SET button prepares the switching process, and a brief press on buttons I and II actually switches on the two power circuits.

This effectively eliminates the danger of switching the backer on or off accidentally, and provides a means of switching and checking both switched circuits independently of each other.

The SensorSwitch is also used to enter the battery type; this information is required for the integral battery indicator. The two rows of LEDs indicate the state of charge of the batteries in four stages. The backer also includes a minimum voltage memory which stores the lowest voltage value which occurs during a flight, enabling the pilot to monitor his batteries more accurately. After the flight the minimum value can be read from the LEDs by pressing buttons I and II.

The Evolution is fitted with integral signal amplifiers and RF interference suppressors to ensure that signal strength to the servos is adequate when long extension leads are used. To prevent possible interaction between the servos, the backer is fitted with a circuit which effectively suppresses any servo feedback currents which might occur.

The Gemini II is the logical development of the PowerBox Gemini, which we have produced unchanged since 2005. The revised design incorporates ideas gleaned from customer requests and our own experience. The Gemini II has a considerably higher performance than the earlier model, since the case now consists of a high-quality machined aluminium heat-sink. Numerous supplementary features have also been added. For example, the pilot now has two options for activating the system: either by push-button using the SensorSwitch, or using a magnet. This also allows the implementation of a concealed installation; in this case an integral buzzer indicates the ON and OFF state.

DESCRIPTION

The PowerBox Mercury SRS is a new power management system which combines all the experience and findings we have gained over the last few years, together with customer requests, in a single compact unit. Never before has so much functionality been crammed into such a small space! The Mercury SRS is ideal for any application requiring an airborne system which provides an uncompromising level of high performance. Integral iGyro, dual receiving system, telemetry, door sequencer and servo matching are just a few of the highlights which this small, lightweight device provides.

In its development we paid particular attention to simplicity of operation. For example, the integral Assistant guides you through the entire basic setup procedure. Channel assignments and gyro settings are entered in just a few minutes with the help of the external OLED screen. Thanks to the new six-axis sensor, the unit learns its installed orientation when the owner simply raises or lowers the model's tail. The user enters the model type and desired method of working for the iGyro: for example, it is possible to select automatic torque roll, thrust vector control or various settings with and without attitude assist function.

One highlight is the iGyro's new Test-fly Assistant: a combination of the iGyro 3e and the iGyro SRS reduces the in-flight setup procedure to a single rotary knob. Two or three passes suffice to complete the gyro adjustments, and the various flight phases can be called up by a switch, as previously defined using the Setup Assistant.

As with the Royal SRS, an optional addition is the proven GPS II, which provides automatic gyro gain adjustment according to the model's airspeed.

To ensure maximum security, two receivers (four satellites with Spektrum systems) can be connected to the installed SRS. Battery, receiver and GPS data are available for telemetry with virtually all radio control systems.

An integral Assistant is also available for setting up the door sequencer. Any modeller who knows how tiresome the adjustment procedure can be with conventional door sequencers will be surprised how quick it can be to set up a retract system including four wheel doors; it takes just a few minutes.

The servo match function is available for all outputs. This facility enables various functions - such as the left and right landing flaps - to be controlled using just one channel. It is also used to synchronise multiple servos operating on a single control surface. Incidentally, the servo output assignment is also pre-defined using the Setup Assistant. The assignment varies according to the model type you select; multiple outputs can be assigned per channel, and the system 'learns' the landing flap and throttle channels. The powerful 16-bit processor and the system's update facility guarantee a future-proof device; updates with new functions can be installed at any time using PowerBox Terminal or our BlueCom adapter. Here at PowerBox-Systems we have developed a new High-End product designed to provide supreme functionality and security for the demanding pilot.
Current requirements obliged us to adopt many new ideas during the development period: these include the triple-axis iGyro as well as our new PowerBus technology, which is destined to introduce fundamental changes in the electronic layout of large-scale models as a whole.

In other respects we have retained proven concepts in further developed form. For example, the new Royal SRS is fully programmable using a menu system, controlled with the SensorSwitch and a blue backlit LCD screen; as usual, all battery-specific and flight-relevant data can be displayed on-screen after each flight.
The door sequencer function and the internal iGyro both feature integral set-up assistants which make it possible to complete the essential set-up procedures in very short order.
Over the last two years developments in serial receiver bus systems have brought them to the forefront of current technology, and the new Royal SRS features these inputs.

The Royal SRS features no fewer than four high-performance voltage regulators, allowing the use of both HV servos and conventional 6.0V types. With dual security in mind, each pair of regulators can be set to an output voltage of 5.9V or 7.4V.

The Servo-Match and Fail-Safe functions have also been expanded: the software now provides adjustment facilities for all 24 outputs individually, covering servo centre, travels, fail-safe and hold-mode. Servo reverse is available with a single button-press.

Other comparable products available commercially boast of duplication, but this always simply refers to the number of batteries connected to the system. Our backer is actually fitted with two micro-controllers, two regulatory circuits, two switch circuits and a dual voltage monitoring circuit.

In order to be able to use modern battery types such as LiPo and LiFePo, the two integral regulators reduce the battery voltage to 5.9V, which is the correct value for 6.0V servos. The unit is also a good choice for capping the voltage of 5S NiMH packs at 5.9V, as the voltage of these batteries can be excessive when fully charged. Regulating the voltage extends the useful life of the servos, and ensures constant servo torque and transit speed - regardless of the state of charge of the batteries.

Two tri-colour LEDs indicate the state of charge of the batteries in four stages. The backer also includes a minimum voltage memory which stores the lowest voltage value which occurs during a flight, enabling the pilot to monitor his batteries more accurately. After the flight the minimum value can be read from the LEDs by pressing buttons I and II.

As an option the PowerBox Sensor can also be supplied with an output voltage of 7.4V for HV systems. On the battery side two different connector systems are available: Uni or MPX types.

PowerBox12

The PowerBox 12 is a small, compact dual power supply with integral mechanical switch.

Like the PowerSwitch, this unit employs a high-quality switch with floating contacts, which creates a one hundred percent switched connection even when subjected to severe vibration. All components are soldered to a single circuit board. The cables are fitted with adhesive-lined heat-shrink sleeves to protect them from mechanical damage where they exit the case, enabling the unit to withstand extremely powerful vibration.

The PowerBox 12 does not feature an integral voltage regulator, but can naturally be used with LiPo and LiFePo batteries provided that the receiving system incorporates servos and receivers approved for HV use.

A tri-colour LED indicates the switched status of the PowerBox 12.

PowerExpander SRS

The PowerExpander SRS makes it possible to exploit all the channels provided by your radio control system when using small but highly-specified receivers. Safety is also significantly enhanced, because two receivers can be connected to the PowerExpander SRS. The integral Serial Receiver System selects any receiver, and - if an error should occur - switches over automatically to the receiver which is still operating.

This represents a simple method of doubling the number of receiver aerials. The unit is fitted with a high-current socket to ensure that the power supply can cope with the large number of channels which it makes available. It also features an output carrying the S-BUS signal, which makes it possible to use any radio control system in conjunction with an S-BUS wiring arrangement.

As powersupply we recommend the PowerBox BaseLog or the PowerBox Gemini II.

SmartSwitch

The SmartSwitch is ideal for all applications where security has top priority, but voltage regulation is not required. The micro-controller by which the On / Off switching system is controlled makes the SmartSwitch the perfect substitute for a mechanical switch.

The on / off switching process is initiated by pressing the push-button twice. The micro-controller monitors the sequence, and turns the electronic switch on or off if the procedure is valid. This eliminates any danger of operating the switch accidentally, and produces a connection which is resistant to vibration. The switch is a latching type, i.e. it stores the last switched state. This means that the system always remains switched on even if there is a brief interruption in the circuit at the battery end.

A further safety feature of the SmartSwitch is the integral voltage monitor: the tri-colour LED indicates the battery's state of charge in four stages. The voltage monitor can be set to suit all commonly used battery types: 2S LiPo/LiIon, 2S LiFePo, 5S NiMH or 4S NiMH.

The SmartSwitch requires no cooling in operation. The switching capacity is more than 20 A, and in practice the limiting factor is the connecting cable.

As already mentioned, the SmartSwitch is not fitted with a voltage regulator, and for this reason it does not constitute a means of operating standard 6.0V servos with LiPo batteries. Naturally HV systems can be operated with LiPo batteries without problem, and suitable servos can be operated directly with LiFePo batteries.

Two different connector systems are available at the battery end: Uni or MPX types. The MPX version is supplied as standard with two receiver connecting leads.
